Letter: Ottaviani for City Council

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I endorse Phil Ottaviani for District 6 City Council.

For the past eight years I have had the honor of serving with Phil on the Zoning Board witnessing firsthand the amazing job he has done for the Town as ZBA chairman. With humor, patience and tremendous skill, Phil convinces the big developers to address town and resident concerns; everyone gets a chance to be heard and no one runs a better public meeting.

However, it is even more impressive to watch Phil work with the smaller, immigrant businesses in town helping them come into compliance so that they too can share in the American Dream. Zoning Board issues can be complex and highly charged, Phil Ottaviani provides a forum for civic engagement that is as open and honest as one could possibly hope for in a public process. You can be very comfortable that the new city government will be in good hands with Phil on the council.

Phil has also been a Town Meeting member for many years providing insight and impact on hundreds of issues. No one will work harder for our district or the town and I ask you to please vote for Phil in the primary election in September and again in November.

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I am writing to you today in support of Phil Ottaviani for District 6 City Council.  This fall Framingham will hold its first election since voting to become a city and we need strong, capable, dedicated and knowledgeable community members to lead us through this important transition.

Phil Ottaviani is a life-long resident of Framingham and has chosen to remain here, do business here, raise his family here and volunteer countless hours to make Framingham the best it can be.

I have known Phil for a long time and believe him to be a strong advocate for Framingham.  I won’t list every organization he belongs to, but I encourage you to go to his website www.philforframingham.com and see the depth of service he gives to Framingham every day.  Phil has a vested interest in making the City of Framingham work for all the citizens.  While he can only represent District 6 (formerly precinct 10 & 11), he is determined to make sure that the new City form of government works for everyone whether you live in his District or not.  Phil has the vision to make sure this new form of government transforms Framingham into a more efficient, more effective and more economical place to live.

Phil believes that in order to remain a wonderful place to live, Framingham needs to take care of our youngest members by strengthening our educational system and oldest members by making sure their needs are met and not forgotten.   Those of us in between will benefit from his belief in strong economic development and his ability to work with people on both sides of every issue.

This is an important time for Framingham.  It is a time when community members need to vote for those that can work with people on both sides of the issues.  It is a time when ever member’s voice is important and needs to be heard.  It is a time when we have an opportunity to move this City into the 21st century and Phil Ottaviani can help us to do that.

I encourage you to vote in the fall elections and to vote for Phil Ottaviani.

School Committee Member Ricky Finlay:

FRAMINGHAM – I enthusiastically endorse Phil Ottaviani for District 6 Council (Precinct 10 & 11).

I have known Phil almost all of my life. What I can tell you about Phil is that he loves Framingham and has been active in Framingham helping out all his life to make it a better place to work, play and live. He chose to stay here and raise his family.

Phil has supported you on Town Meeting for the past 25 years. He is a listener and cares deeply about the neighborhoods and what is happening. I had the pleasure of serving with Phil on Town Meeting and can tell you it didn’t matter what Precinct you were from he was all in when it was about protecting a neighborhood or neighborhood issues.

Phil has always been a strong supporter of the schools and not afraid to advocate to keep them strong.

Phil has never backed away and has always been there.

He supported the senior center for our seniors, the Bowditch and Loring arena projects.

I also served with Phil on the board of Hoops and Homework. I witnessed firsthand his kindness, generosity and passion for the program and its kids.

In closing, we need someone like Phil in this transition who knows Framingham, who listens and brings District 6 ideas and problems forward.

One of Phil’s strongest qualities is he is not afraid to ask the tough questions to be sure the city is run efficiently for our residents and taxpayers.

State Representative Chris Walsh:

FRAMINGHAM – State Rep. Chris Walsh is endorsing Phil Ottaviani for City Council in District 6.

Voters will vote for one of four candidates in District 6 in a preliminary election on Sept. 26. The two candidates with the highest votes will move on to the final election on November 7, where voters will elect the City of Framingham’s first City Council.

“Framingham needs a Council, made up of members who can not only listen to but actually process multiple side sof complex issues that face our community,” said State Rep. Chris Walsh. Over many years, as the chair of the Framingham Zoning Board of Appeals, Phil has impressed me as a person who can do just that, always treating  people and businesses with respect an an open mind. I believe he would represent his district extremely well.”
